On any given Wednesday, the Farmer’s Market along Newport Avenue packs the street curb- to-curb full of organic produce, hand-crafted jewelry and passionate street musicians. Winston’s on Bacon Street is home base to the fresh funk that the locals crave. Just across the street a stone’s throw away, the line for a world famousHodad’s burger leaves a passerby wandering: Just long would I wait in line for a perfect burger? Featured in 2007 on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, Hodad’s has become one of Ocean Beach’s highlights.
Venturing to the end of Newport Avenue, acrobats, hula hoopers and poi throwers line the grass drawing a local audience in front of the perfect ocean back drop. Skateboarders being pulled by their four-legged companions speed by on their way to Dog Beach, one of the only off-leash beaches in the United States designated specifically for salty dog enjoyment!
